Nicaragua update 2008

Nicaragua 2008

NICARAGUA PARA CHRISTO! 30th May - 9th June 2008.

11 Team Members are in Nicaragua for the annual Dr. "Dad" Preston Memorial Bike Mission.

Last year we raised $5,300 for 53 bikes given to pastors in 2 areas.
This year we are targeting 2 new areas and generous donors have given $12,300 for 123 bikes!  Yes, 120 Pastors from many denominations are taking part in the evangelistic bike ride outreaches in Chinandega and Rivas.  Not only do these bikes help the pastors fulfill their ministry, they provide vital transport for the whole family, and this mission provides a platform for unity as they ride their new bikes together through the towns and villages preaching the Gospel.

One bike for a Pastor is $100 nearly 3 months salary for some of them!

Our team conducted 1 marriage seminar, 3 Pastor’s seminars, 1 Pastors’ Wives Retreat, 2 bike missions and overall 5,000 tracts were distributed.  We preached at 6 churches (2 were women’s conferences),  70 people made decisions for Christ, 90 were baptized in Holy Spirit, and several were prayed for to be delivered from alcoholism.  250 Pastors and their wives (representing 225 churches from most denominations and Fellowships in Nicaragua), were blessed either through the bike mission or the 3 day Pastors’ Wives Retreat.  Because of your generosity, the final budget was $15,000 for the bikes, and for subsidizing the 130 women who attended the retreat.  The weather was amazing!  The tropical storm that was predicted did not interfere with our program.  We only had rain at night when everything finished and then it POURED!

Thanks to all who helped us!  Please pray for the Holy Spirit to come mightily upon these Pastors, their churches and this mission.
