HEAL OUR LAND

'Heal Our Land' is a dynamic, interactive, biblically-based prayer event created by Jimmy and Carol Owens and adapted by Liz Doyle, Denis Wade and Clifford Hill for the challenges of today's British Church. The Lord used the Owens' musicals "Come Together" and "If My People" to ignite a spiritual fire in the British Church in the 1970s/80s.

Today, the nation is in great trouble.  Never was there greater need for the gospel to heal our land: never was there greater opportunity!

Equipping the Church

This new production, with input from major British songwriters and musicians from different styles and ethnicities, can be an instrument to equip the church for a fresh movement to take the gospel to the nation.  It begins by bringing an atmosphere of repentance and prayer, and then encourages a passion for Jesus and for the lost.

Too often Christians find themselves divided along denominational and cultural lines.  "Heal our Land" gives an opportunity to come together and experience the diversity of gifts, styles and cultures through our common commitment to Jesus.  "Heal our Land", with its message in music and scripture, will bring Christians together with one heart, with one purpose and one voice.

Reaching the Lost

The presentation of ‘Heal Our Land’ in each city will be followed by a week of "evangelist driven" evangelism encouraging and equipping local believers to pray for and to reach out both through local church and corporate events into their community.  Inter- denominational and multi-cultural cooperation will be actively encouraged.

Launch Event

It is planned to stage an abbreviated version of ‘Heal Our Land’ to an invited audience in a large marquee at Moggerhanger Park on Saturday, 12 September 2009. This launch event is intended to raise awareness of the new musical by bringing together key Christian leaders and musicians. It will also provide an opportunity for distributing a promotional DVD that is being produced with endorsements by Rick Warren, Jack Hayford, Jean Darnall and Jimmy and Carol Owens as well as prominent British Christian leaders.  As well as promoting the musical,  a book of the same title will be introduced that is being  jointly written by Jimmy and Carol Owens and Clifford Hill.

City Tour

It is intended to take ‘Heal Our Land’ on tour around major British cities in the period May to July 2010. Planning is ongoing with church leaders in a number of cities where there is already considerable interest in the project. The presentation of the musical in each city will be preceded by a week of prayer and preparation and then followed by a week of evangelistic outreach.

Local Involvement

Through the involvement of local Pastors, Ministers, and Worship-leaders, 'Heal Our Land' can provide part of the equipment that can be used by God to turn the tide in Britain and bring the word of the Lord to multitudes. An essential part of this project is to use local singers and musicians alongside professionals. There will also be a preparation program for local participating churches in order to ensure that each congregation is fully involved both in the presentation of ‘Heal Our Land’ and the week of evangelism that will follow each event.  It is intended that the songs and presentation will be reproducible with a CD, backing tracks and a DVD so that the program can be taken to further cities and towns by local organizers.  The book and prayer guide will be a further resource for strengthening the prayer base of the church.

Sponsors and Finance

A number of prominent Christian leaders in church, politics and business are being approached to act as sponsors for the ‘Heal Our Land’ project.

Administration and Prayer Support

The administration of the ‘Heal Our Land’ project is based in the offices of the Centre for Contemporary Ministry at Moggerhanger Park and is overseen by Jackie Barber CCM’s Senior Executive Administrative Officer. The Project Director is Liz Doyle. Prayer support is already being given by CCM’s prayer partners and the backing of a number of national prayer organisations is being sought. Several have already indicated their support.
