October and November found us in 7 countries!

Dear Prayer & Financial Partners,                                         October 2007

We are so thankful that the Lord has raised you up to be such a vital part of the ministry at a very important time.  Our trip to the UK was a fabulous success and many new doors of opportunity are opening up for greater impact into that strategic country.

In the next 6 weeks we will be ministering in Michigan and N. Carolina in the USA, in UK, Jordan, Israel, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh!  Much prayer is needed!!!!!

Prayer needs:

More Financial Support:  As our opportunities increase, so does our need for more resources, not only for the missions themselves, but also for our personal needs.  We do not charge for our services and we do not receive a salary.  We are supported by YOUR GENEROUS CONTRIBUTIONS.  In the past year, as our expenses have increased, our support has dropped due to some of our supporter’s personal circumstances.  We thank you all SO MUCH for your generous giving, and ask YOU to pray for more supporters to be raised up to help finance all the new ministry as well as our living expenses.

Increased Prayer:  More than ever we are aware that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results (James 5:16).  Please keep us in prayer.  The countries we are visiting in the next 6 weeks are all “in the news”.  Bangladesh & India and have experienced terrible flooding, and students in Bangladesh have recently been rioting.  Pakistan is passing through political uncertainty with increasing extremism. Israel and Jordan continue to be pivotal countries in the Middle East and believers in the UK have an opportunity to preach the Gospel as never before.  Pray for the believers we will be meeting, that they will be challenged to be bold in the face of opposition and difficulty; that they will be a light in their worlds!  ‘…Lord consider their threats and give your servants boldness to preach ….Acts 4:29   Pray for our continued health and strength, for divine appointments and courage in every situation to be obedient to God in all we say and do.  Pray for us and our family members at home to be blessed and protected and at peace as we travel.

REPORT:  Jesus Loves Leicester 2007

Our team of 13 from USA, North Wales, Pakistan and Sri Lanka were well received and encouraged by the enthusiasm of the local believers. When the local Malaysian, Indian, African and Caribbean believers joined us on the streets, we were a truly powerful and attractive sight.

Team members represented Scotland, Ireland, Wales, England, America, several African nations, Caribbean, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka (Sinhalese and Tamil), Punjab and Hindi.  There was someone there for anyone we encountered – it was awesome!

After the successful launch of Love Cornwall, in September 2006, based on the concerted intercession in that county, we had a delegation from Leicester meet with us in the CRE Sandown Park who invited us there.  Syd shared the vision at a Pastors’ and Leaders’ breakfast in Leicester on 16th June 07 and some 44 churches and groups were represented. Following that, the Jesus Loves Leicester steering committee launched a successful and co-ordinated effort of city wide initiatives, beginning in September 07.

When we saw all that the local committee had planned, we wondered if our presence was necessary!  However, we felt the Lord direct our attention toward the thousands of immigrants in what is the largest multicultural city at the very heart of England. Interestingly, Leicester was the home of the first foreign missionary from England in 1792, William Carey.  Stirring up that spirit of evangelism and mission, we went into the streets to preach the Gospel to the very people William Carey went to India to evangelize – God has brought them to Leicester!  We spent our time partnering with the local believers in prayer and preaching.  We prayed with about 25 people on the streets, 12 for salvation including a young Iranian Muslim man.   Praise the Lord for great weather after a summer of floods!  The Lord answered your prayers!

We had 2 meetings directed to Asian ladies with a third toward their families.  9 Hindu ladies received prayer for salvation and on Sunday, many returned with their whole families. 200 people were there from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan N. & S. Korea, Africa and the Caribbean. Nancy Honeytree shared songs in Urdu and Haroon Bhatti from Pakistan shared the Word.  At the conclusion, a Hindu man came for prayer; he had been disabled with back injuries for 10 years.  The Lord gloriously healed him and he brought his wife and family forward to receive Jesus as Savior!  As a result a Pastor’s wife, YWAM worker and an Indian sister are setting up an outreach to women!

We were based in a Muslim neighborhood at Bible Hall.  Across the street there was a shop where they make dresses (Punjabi suits).  We stopped in and it turned out they were from Lahore, Pakistan, from the same neighborhood where Pastor Haroon lives  We gave them a DVD - the lady just happened to have a portable DVD player right on the counter, and she put it in and just happened to click  on Honeytree singing “Man In White!” “Oh, this is beautiful!' she said.  There were many other encouragements, with one Tamil doctor getting so fired up after his first time testifying in public, that he came three times and brought some Tamil singers as well.

It didn’t end there…the following 2 weeks were filled with mission, people were saved and healed, the churches came together and Jesus was glorified:  One of the committee reported on the Sat. street outreach, “We have had a TREMENDOUS day today - Leicester truly exalted the Name of Jesus!  The African and Asian churches were fabulous - their preaching was awesome - and many, many people listened to the call of the Holy Spirit to give their lives to Jesus. The Lord healed a lady in a wheelchair!  She came with her husband pushing her along - got prayed for in the prayer and healing tent - which by the way was full for most of the day - she then came on the stage and ran up and down!  There was salvation, hope, redemption, healing, love, peace and forgiveness flowing!  AND YOU ARE A PART OF THIS WONDERFUL HARVEST!!  We bless the Lord for you all, may your cups be overflowing with His grace and favour!”

Pastor Kimil, a S. Korean Pastor, organizing the International celebration writes: “In God's providence, we had a really successful International event on 28th (Fri) Sep at Belgrave Union Church building (at Pastor Stephen Patel's Church). There were around 350 people from various cultures. To be honest with you, I did not expect to see that large number of people. Yes, my faith was little but the blessing of God was so big on that night. Yes, we were gathered there for praising, praying, sharing testimonies and eating a meal together. Everyone seemed very happy to feel the presence of Holy Spirit! Thanks again for your deep concern and prayer for Leicester.

Prayer requests:

  1. For the continued growth of the Multicultural Interdenominational ministry there.

  2. For the awakening of the ‘Rip Van Winkle’ church to get out into the waiting harvests.

  3. For evangelism to be the overriding priority that will dissolve all man made barriers and excuses.

 Rachel & Raul’s visit

The weekend, following our return from Leicester, Rachel and Liz were invited to minister at the Michigan District Foursquare Women’s Retreat.  90 women attended and were blessed in many ways.  The following week, Rachel with her accompanist Jonathon Ayala, ministered 3 more times in our area and also joined us on our radio program.  The following day she was interviewed live for 40 minutes!  A lady heard her and brought her unsaved daughter and grand daughter to Rachel’s concert Sat. night.  On Sun. morning, the unsaved daughter came to church and following Rachel and Raul’s message, was one of those who gave their lives to Christ! Pray for Rachel, Raul and Jonathon to see many doors of opportunity open for them.  They have a great ministry much needed for young people!

Pastor Mark & Mary Jane Vanderput

Sunday morning, Oct. 7, we are blessed to be sharing at the commissioning service of Pastor Mark and Mary Jane Vanderput as they launch out as the “international student" arm of Nation Light Ministries.  After serving as pastor for the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Ann Arbor Michigan, they have been called by the Lord to reach the tens of thousands of internationals there.  They will be partnering with other organizations in the area already engaged in this type of ministry.  Please pray for prayer and financial support for them.

Thank you for your prayer and support.  Syd will be in N. Carolina Nov.4 – 10 available for ministry.  We are both available for ministry in the US after Thanksgiving, if we can serve you, please contact us: Email nationslight@cs.com.
